Mila Kunis

Mila Kunis was born in Chernivtsi, Ukrainian SSR, Soviet Union, to a Jewish family. In 1991, at age seven, she emigrated with her family to Los Angeles, California, where she attended acting classes to overcome her shyness. She was discovered by an agent at a talent showcase and landed her first role in a Barbie commercial. Her breakthrough came in 1998 when she was cast as Jackie Burkhart on That '70s Show at age 14, despite being legally too young to work the required hours; the producers lied about her age to secure her the part.¹

Kunis transitioned to film with roles in Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008) and Date Night (2010), but her performance as Lily in Darren Aronofsky's Black Swan (2010) earned her a Golden Globe nomination and the Marcello Mastroianni Award at the Venice Film Festival. She then starred in the comedy Ted (2012) and its sequel, and voiced Meg Griffin on the animated series Family Guy since 1999. In 2015, she produced and starred in the drama Breaking Point.²

Kunis married actor Ashton Kutcher in 2015; they have two children. She has been open about her immigrant experience and has supported Ukrainian causes, especially after the 2022 Russian invasion, raising over $35 million for relief efforts. She also co-founded the production company Orchard Farm Productions. In 2018, she revealed she had suffered from alopecia areata, an autoimmune condition that caused hair loss, which she managed privately.³

Kunis is a naturalized U.S. citizen who has spoken about the challenges of learning English as a child. She has a tattoo of the coordinates of her birthplace, and she is known for her distinctive voice, which has been used in animated films like The Angry Birds Movie. She also holds a black belt in karate, which she earned as a teenager. In 2013, she was named the face of Christian Dior's Miss Dior handbag campaign, and she has been a vocal advocate for gender equality in Hollywood.
