Jisoo (Kim Ji-soo; born January 3, 1995) is a South Korean singer and actress best known as a member of Blackpink. She is the group’s oldest member and has also developed a solo career, beginning with the single album Me and its lead single “Flower” in 2023.1 Her public work spans K-pop performance, television drama, fashion, and music-video production.
Jisoo became a founding member of Blackpink after years of training under YG Entertainment. She was born Kim Ji-soo in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, and joined YG as a trainee before debuting with Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa in August 2016.1 Blackpink’s debut single album, Square One, introduced the group’s combination of hip-hop, pop, and electronic production.
Within the group, Jisoo is primarily a vocalist, and she has frequently taken the role of visual focal point in promotional material. Jisoo’s screen career has developed alongside her work in fashion and entertainment endorsements. Her international visibility has helped connect K-pop, Korean television, and luxury fashion audiences, while her group activities have kept her associated with one of the most commercially influential acts in global popular music.2 In 2024 she established BLISSOO, an agency focused on her individual activities, while Blackpink’s group career continued separately from members’ personal projects.5
Jisoo’s role in Blackpink is broader than her formal credit as a vocalist. Her solo debut was unusually compact: Me was a single album rather than a full-length record, leaving “Flower” to carry most of the project’s musical and promotional identity. The song’s success also reflected the importance of performance design in modern K-pop, where choreography, styling, short-form video circulation, and chart activity operate together rather than as separate promotional stages.3
