Jin Goo

Jin Goo was born in Seoul, South Korea. He developed an interest in acting during his school years and pursued it professionally, making his film debut in 2003 with a minor role in the movie Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter... and Spring. Throughout the mid-2000s, he appeared in supporting roles in films such as A Bittersweet Life (2005) and The Chaser (2008), gradually gaining recognition for his intense screen presence.¹

Jin Goo's breakthrough came in 2016 when he played Captain Seo Dae-young, a special forces officer, in the KBS2 drama Descendants of the Sun. The series became a massive hit across Asia, and his chemistry with co-star Kim Ji-won was widely praised.² His performance earned him the Excellence Award at the KBS Drama Awards and boosted his international popularity.³

Following his success, Jin Goo continued to take on diverse roles. He starred in the action thriller One Line (2017) and the crime drama Come and Hug Me (2018), showcasing his range.⁴ He also appeared in the film Money (2019) and the television series The Flower of Evil (2020), where he played a detective.⁵ His ability to portray both heroic and morally complex characters has solidified his reputation as a reliable leading man.

Beyond his acting, Jin Goo is known for his philanthropic work, including donations to children's charities.⁶ He is also an avid photographer, and his behind-the-scenes photos from film sets have been exhibited in small galleries. In 2019, he married actress Lee Yeon-hee, and the couple has since kept their private life largely out of the public eye.⁷ Jin Goo has also expressed interest in directing, though he has yet to make his directorial debut.
