The result is closer to a serialized coming-of-age dramedy than to a traditional prime-time family melodrama.

Júlia's uncertainty anchors a story in which friendship is as consequential as romance. Her flatmates and friends function as a provisional family: they offer advice, judgment, comic relief and practical support, but they also bring their own insecurities into the crisis. The series therefore treats pregnancy not only as an individual choice but as an event that reorganizes a whole social circle.

The writing combines embarrassment and humor with more serious questions about consent, responsibility, abortion, parenthood and the unequal burdens attached to sexual relationships. Rather than presenting a single moral solution, it concentrates on the confusion produced when several legitimate interests collide. That tonal balance—awkward comedy alongside emotional vulnerability—helped distinguish the series from more conventional Spanish teen dramas.¹

The cast includes Elisabet Casanovas as Júlia, with Artur Busquets and Júlia Bonjoch among the principal performers.¹ Contemporary coverage emphasized the production's direct language and its willingness to make reproductive decisions part of a young ensemble comedy. The series also circulated beyond a strictly Spanish-language television context because its setting and dialogue reflect Catalan urban life while remaining accessible through RTVE's digital service.

The show's most distinctive feature is its combination of a Catalan social setting with a Spanish public-service digital outlet. That positioning matters because it places Drama between regional television traditions and nationally distributed streaming fiction. It is not an adaptation of the theatrical genre called drama, nor is its title a general description of serious television; the name identifies a specific short-form series built around the protagonist's personal predicament.

Its small scale is also purposeful. The flat, bedroom and nearby urban spaces keep attention on dialogue, bodily privacy and the negotiations required by shared living. The pregnancy storyline supplies the central question, but the lesser crisis points—money, housing, unstable work and the fear of disappointing friends—give the series its social texture. In that sense, Drama records a recognizable stage of contemporary Spanish youth culture more than it constructs an exceptional melodrama.
